Coastal Canine engaged an independent laboratory to investigate the bioactivity of our Green Lipped Mussel powder, conducting in-vitro trials, at three concentrations, using the cytokines TNF-a and IL-1β as inflammation markers.

  1. The primary role of TNF-a is the regulation of immune cells. Dysregulation of TNF production has been implicated in a variety of diseases including cancer.
  2. IL-1β is one of the key cytokines involved in the pathogenesis of many inflammatory conditions including osteoarthritis.

Test Results

Coastal Canine’s Green Lipped Mussel powder was shown to have a potent effect on both inflammation markers, plus a high degree of yield, indicating a high overall inhibitory percentage.

Oxidative stress has been implicated in the development and progression of numerous diseases, and plays an important role in the ageing process. Longevity trials were conducted over a period of several years with laboratory mice receiving Enzogenol in their feed. The aim of these trials was to find out whether the mice receiving Enzogenol would live longer than a matched control group of mice that were not fed any Enzogenol. These trials caused no harm, discomfort or suffering to the mice – in fact, the mice receiving the Enzogenol food lived longer, healthier lives than the control mice.

    Cardio Vascular Research

    Nutrition research has shown that Enzogenol supports cardiovascular health through supporting healthy endothelial function (blood vessel elasticity), healthy plasma viscosity, healthy fibrinogen levels and healthy blood pressure.

    Basal and hyperaemic blood flow in forearm resistance vessels measured by plethysmography increased significantly during the study indicating healthy endothelial function. Plasma viscosity was reduced by a small but clinically significant amount. 

    The findings demonstrate how Enzogenol contributes to supporting healthy blood circulation, healthy blood vessel function and healthy blood pressure, all important factors for a healthy cardiovascular system.
